Field trip forms for Indian Hills have been sent out! Form and payment due on Thursday, 3/22! Extra copy HERE.

Legoland information and a shout out to students and parents:

Mr. Hanson and I would like to thank all of the parents who joined us for the Hoe Down.  The students were so excited and proud to show off their square dancing skills, and the parents did a pretty good job on the dance floor as well.  A big thank you to those who provided food for the Hoe Down and the Chili Cook-off!

We have an early departure time tomorrow to Legoland.  Students need to be at school by 7:30 am.  They should have a lunch, 2 snacks and 2 waters - all labeled with their names.  Please have them bring a jacket to wear since the high is anticipated to be 57 degrees (no rain - yay).  Red shirts and comfortable shoes should round out their ensemble.  We are expected to be back around 4:00.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Our Hoe Down is this Wednesday, 2/28!  Square dancing starts at 11:00.  Parents and enrolled siblings are welcome to join us - just make sure you have ok'd it with the younger siblings' teachers.   Students will then test taste the chili in our corridor before heading to the back of the MPR for our own delicious chili with all the fixings.  Students can wear jeans, flannel shirts, jean skirts, bandannas, boots, cowboy hats, flowing skirts or anything festive. Afterward, Mr. Warren will be showing the students how to rope cattle, and the students will design their own brand for their rancho!

Message from Ms. Julie: If you are interested in attending our overnight field trip to Indian Hills in May, and you do NOT have a live scan form on file with the school, you must do so ASAP. Feel free to contact Ms. Julie with any questions or need for forms.

Your child should be bringing the Scholastic Book Order forms home today.  There are three different club flyers to reflect a variety of reading levels.  This is a great opportunity to order some books for your child to read throughout the year or to suggest a book your child might want me to add to my library.

You can order online at scholastic.com/newparent and use the Class Code J6CV4 or return the form with a check made out to Scholastic by 9/20/17.  Enjoy!!

Weekly Schedule: HERE

*********

8/28:

Back to School Night is on Thursday, 8/31 from 5:30 to 6:30. We will hold one session at 5:30, and another session at 6:00. It does not matter which session you choose to attend because we will both be together in the same room (Hanson's room, Room 17) for both sessions. See you there!

*********

8/25:

Calling all parents who would like to drive on our special field trips! We would love to have you join our "Classroom on Wheels!"

Please review this note from Mrs. Hastings:

  • All field trip drivers and chaperones must complete Live Scan. You can get the forms from Julie in the RDC office. She will caution you to check on other requirements for driving prior to doing the Live Scan. Once you are in our system, you do not need to do this again. So, if you were fingerprinted last year for us- you're already good to go. See Julie for the details.

*********

**********

8/24:

Mrs. Hastings sent out an email to the school notifying parents of these important changes as a result of staff-wide consensus:

1) As of today there will be only non-edible items allowed for student birthday celebrations in classrooms. As always, please notify Mr. Hanson or Mrs. Bacon if you plan on bringing in items for your student's birthday. We love acknowledging student birthdays, so please let us know if you have one coming up and you would like to bring in a non-edible item for the class! We always accommodate these mini-celebrations at the end of the day (after 2:35), and we are happy to have the class sing to your child! Please help us remain consistent with this new policy. Thank you so much!

2) Field trip forms must be turned in 2 FULL WEEKS prior to all field trips. We will work with our field trip coordinators to ensure field trip forms are passed out the week before they are due. We will also post these deadlines here on the student agenda.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO TO HELP MAKE OUR SCHOOL SPECIAL!
